Igneous - formed from melted or partially molten rock
IMPERFECTS -- Any and all broadloom carpet not judged to be first quality at the final point of inspection. The difference between first quality goods and imperfect goods is based upon grading and quality standards existing within each individual firm. (There are no industry standards for determining which carpet is first quality or not.) Carpet or rugs rejected for having certain flaws or deviations in color or construction and marked as "imperfects," "irregulars," or "seconds" by the manufacturer.
IMPERVIOUS TILE
: Tile with water absorption of 0.5 percent or less.
Inclusion - a mineral phase that is distinct (in composition or appearance) from the main mineral components of a rock
Incise --To cast concave or engrave.
IN/OUT CORNERS: Trim tile for turning a right-angle inside or outside a wall comer.
Intrados --The inner portion of an arch.
Inscription --Characters incised into a unit.
Insert --A metal device cast into a unit normally used for anchoring or handling.
INTUMESCE -- to expand with heat to provide a low density film: used in reference to certain fire retardant coatings.
Iolite - a transparent blue-violet stone; the lighter colors show more of the violet hue.
